Why we're called Skips
Fewer than half of American adults, 49%, can afford the care and medicine they need, the lowest in five years.1
They skipped it: the visit, the follow-up, the refill. We named Skips after them. What you skip here is the appointment, the waiting room and the markup. Never the care.
We started Skips because we kept meeting people who knew exactly what they needed and could not get it without paying for an appointment first.
Skips started in 2019 in New York City, working through independent community pharmacies. Today we serve all 50 states, and your prescription still goes to the pharmacy you choose.
Cost is not the only reason care gets skipped. Being seen means finding a clinic, taking time off and waiting for an appointment to ask a question a provider could answer the same day. Skips takes those steps out of the care that does not need an in-person visit.
How we do it
You ask in your own words
You chat with a US-licensed provider from wherever you are and ask for what you need: a medication, labs, imaging, a referral, a travel letter, an excuse note or a Letter of Medical Necessity. There is no appointment and no waiting room. You answer only what the provider needs to decide.
US-licensed provider reviews it
A US-licensed provider reads your request and decides what is right for you. Same-day replies, 7 days a week, in all 50 US states, for all ages. A provider can decline, or tell you that something needs to be seen in person. The review is free either way. Pay only if treated: medication, labs, imaging or a letter.
What it costs
Skips is direct primary care, so there is no insurance company in the middle. Skips providers prescribe with price in mind, choosing a generic or a cheaper equivalent when appropriate, and a compounding pharmacy when it is the right medicine. Labs and imaging go to direct sources, with no middlemen. Care starts as low as $30. One consult is $50, three months of care is $80, and $30 a month covers all our services and cancels anytime with no fees. You pay your pharmacy, lab or imaging center directly. Skips is not health insurance.
